Hey y’all!

I can say y’all now that I live in the south. That’s right; I moved! Now I live a bike ride away from the beach, do hot yoga twice a week, and am pursuing a second degree that will add more letters to the end of my name.

Not that a big move is an excuse for not talking to you guys since last July, but life moves fast and I am just now catching up with it! I have some new ideas for this blog and my brand. Sometimes, I get so caught up with the pre-planning of an idea, making sure it is perfect before I even begin so that I am fully prepared once it’s rolling, that I never feel ready enough to actually do the thing. Upon reflection, one quote that stands out to me goes something like this: you don’t have to be awesome to start, but you have to start something to be awesome. Here is my attempt at letting paralyzing perfectionism go in favor of just starting.

One of the main motivations for revisiting the blog after so much time was my personal imbalance of consumerism/creation. I feel like I have been consuming a lot more than I have been creating. On one hand, I have been reading for pleasure (and for school) more. That is a positive! On the other hand, I have been on Tik Tok and watching TV quite a bit, too. I have not been contributing to our society’s conversation.

Henceforth, I am back to the blogging world.

I want to make this blog more casual. It will be my attempt at rejecting perfectionism to make room for creative expression. Perfection demands boundaries. Creative expression requires space.

I define my creative expression as my sparkle. It has been a while since I felt inspired to use my sparkle, and now that it’s back I want to show the world! My academic reading and writing use up all of my professionalism and perfectionism, anyway. I need a place for my sparkle to go. I choose this blog. 🙂
